Blockage and leakage

There are many reasons for the deposits produced by gasoline combustion, and most of the deposits that cause fuel injection nozzle blockage are related to the quality and characteristics of gasoline. In the cold state, gasoline can easily form partially oxidized compounds, which can enter the crankcase or condense into oil-insoluble droplets. The liquid droplets adhere to the surface of the combustion chamber, and are converted into semi-solid, solid paint film-like high-temperature deposits after heating, which adhere firmly to the metal surface and mix with oil fume to form carbon deposits. In addition, after gasoline is oxidized, colloidal low-temperature deposits can also be formed, which are emulsified by mixing water, inorganic substances, oil fume and dust to form sludge. Automobiles are often in transitional conditions (such as road jams, stop and go), which are more likely to generate colloidal deposits. Most of the deposits on fuel injectors belong to this category.

The deposits adhere to the outlet of the fuel injector, generally in the inner and outer ring of the measuring hole, which causes the fuel injector to be blocked, the fuel flow is reduced, the engine is not working properly, and even one or several cylinders do not work. Especially the multi-hole fuel injection nozzle, the blocking phenomenon is particularly prominent. The fuel injection nozzle is sealed by the conical surface of the valve stem and the valve seat. After the fuel injection is over, the valve stem falls back to the valve seat under the action of the spring and impacts the valve seat. The accumulation of time will wear out the sealing cone surface, resulting in the sealing of the cone surface is not tight, resulting in oil dripping after the fuel injection, commonly known as “pull off the oil”. Cause one or more cylinders to not work. Many countries have done 800,000 km durability road tests and 10 billion working cycle flow calibration bench tests on fuel injectors, requiring flow fluctuations ≤ 3%, so as to evaluate the wear resistance and flow deviation of the fuel injectors, and analyze the injection nozzles. The blockage and leakage of the oil nozzle provide a basis for improving the design.

Use and maintenance

Clean the fuel injector regularly, generally once every 20000kM driving. Soaking is the main method of cleaning. Sharp spatula should not be used, and steel needles should not be used to measure holes. This is because the fuel injection nozzle is not only used for metering and atomizing gasoline, but also has a sealing effect. After the metering hole is pricked, although the oil path is unblocked, the sealing performance is deteriorated. It is necessary to use “high-quality unleaded gasoline”, strictly control the oil source, and do not refuel at will. Although lubricating oil can also form deposits, the deposits of gasoline engines are mainly derived from gasoline, especially catalytic cracked gasoline, which is more likely to be oxidized and generate deposits. Among the domestic gasoline blending components, catalytic cracking gasoline accounts for a large proportion, so when refueling, more attention should be paid to gasoline quality to prevent problems before they occur. In addition, the cleanliness of the gasoline tank and oil pipeline cannot be ignored. Pay attention to the specifications and models when replacing the fuel injectors.
